Building ICF Walkout Basement Construction

SERIES

12 Videos

This ICF construction series starts with the arrival of ICF (insulated concrete forms) block. We begin layout of the ICF frost wall and basement walls and as the wall grows we install an ICF scaffold and bracing system (zonk and zuckle was used) after lots of rebar bending, block stacking a few embarrassing, but real, rookie mistakes the walls are plumbed, braced ands strapped in preparation for the concrete pour. This project went quick once we got through the teething issues and very quickly we are up out of the dirt working at heights.

ICF blocks were chosen for their many building science benefits, ease of construction, high efficiency, strength and cost. This project shows how two people can build a large foundation quickly with the technology. Enjoy!
